Jen > Did I mention the road was full of tight switchback turns?
Jen > What an adventure!
Jen > We stopeed in Philipsburg for lunch. It was beautiful, and not at all touristy. It had been prosperous over the years due to sapphire mines and other mining in the nearby mountains.
Jen > This was the kind of town that trucks carrying huge trailers could park right in the middle of the street. As we ate lunch at an outside cafe, this truck pulled up in front of us to pick up a huge moose rack.
Jen > We each got to try on this $35,000 sapphire ring! What a thrill!
Jen > People could buy bags of sapphire gravel for $25 and sort out very small sapphire stones. We didn't have enough time or patience for this task, but it was fun to watch!
Jen > A beautifully restored candy shop. The smell of sugar and chocolate in this place was overwhelming!
Jen > Erin's as happy as a kid in a candy store!
Jen > Erin's grin tells it all!
